I found using a wiki very easy to use and edit.  A wiki would be a good idea for students to use in a large group project. It is simple enough that students would catch on easily.  They would be able to post massive amounts of information to everyone without having to send multiple emails.  This way I also would be able to follow information and see how far along everyone is and if they are on the right track.  I do not believe that wikis would be suitable for younger children.  I think they would be best served in a middle school or high school.
